Academic Advancement Programs
Two AAP Scholars Receive Frost Scholarship to Attend University of Oxford
The U.S. Department of Education will continue to fund UCF’s McNair Scholars program. The university will use the more than $1 million grant to help 145 students achieve their dream of earning a doctoral degree.
The McNair program, which is on more than 200 campuses, continues to increase the number of underrepresented groups attending graduate school. Students in the program are low-income and are often the first member of their family to attend college.

My Summer Research Experience: An Exploration of Access to Kidney Transplant and Racial Disparities
This summer Bianca Olivieri, Class of 2019, presented her research about access to kidney transplants and racial disparities at Harvard Medical School. She is just one example of UCF students participating in undergraduate research. Throughout the school year, she worked in Dr. Candice Bridge’s research. Dr. Bridge is a professor in UCF’s National Center for Forensic Science department. Last summer Bianca attended a summer research program at Emory University.

Everyone has a story. Zane Frazer is in her first year of medical school at Johns Hopkins, a career path she didn’t plan to pursue.

Zane’s lifelong passion was acrobatics. By the age of 20, she was performing with Cirque du Soleil. A shoulder injury had a profound effect on her life. She became interested in medicine. Once she made that decision, she contacted UCF’s Pre-Health and Pre-Law Advising to develop a plan that would help make her a competitive medical applicant. Watch this video to learn about Zane’s journey to medical school.
